About transcripts

The Registrar’s Office issues official transcripts of academic activity and achievement. Official transcripts are normally required to support applications for admission to academic programs at another institution and to support employment applications when requested.

Elements of a transcript

The transcript contains the following information:

  • The student's name and day and month of birth
  • The student ID number
  • Program of study including major, minor, concentration
  • List of UM courses and grades earned by level (non-degree, undergraduate, graduate)
  • Term GPA
  • Record of academic standing
  • Summary of transfer credit from other institutions
  • Academic awards and scholarships
  • UM degree awarded with the degree date

Transcript Delivery

Transcripts have a few delivery options available. Depending on the delivery option you choose, there may be additional fees.

  • Mailed Letters
    • Transcripts being sent by mail are taking an average of 5 business days to process before being sent out in the mail. Mailed letters are sent through Canada Post. For estimates on mailing times, please visit their website.
    • Letters being sent by standard mail have no delivery fee and are charged the base amount of $14.55 per copy.
    • Emailed Letters
      • Transcripts being delivered by email are sent out on the next business day.
      • Transcripts being sent by email can only go to one of the listed emails in Aurora. These are also listed below on the List of Educational Institutions for email delivery.
      • Emailed letters are charged $30 per copy, this is due to them being expedited.
      • Couriered Letters
        • Transcripts being delivered by courier take an average of 5 business days to process before being sent.
        • Letters being couriered will have an additional courier fee.
        • The fee for courier will depend on where the transcript is being sent:
          • $20 - anywhere in Winnipeg
          • $50 - anywhere in Canada or the United States
          • $100 - international / overseas locations

      Order a transcript

      Current students and Alumni who took classes after 2006 must order a transcript through their online Aurora Account. Payment can be made by credit card (Visa or MasterCard), Interac and Visa Debit only. Physical official transcripts are $14.55. Email transcripts are $30.00.  Fees are subject to change.
       

      To order your transcript:
      1. Log in to Aurora
      2. Select 'Enrolment & Academic Records'
      3. Select 'Student Records'
      4. Select 'Academic Transcript'
      5. Select 'Request Official Transcript Online – payment by credit card, Interac and Visa Debit only'
      6. Follow the menu prompts and select your delivery method: 
        • Email (to another educational institution through a select list)
        • Standard mail (through Canada Post)
      7. Select your payment method: credit card, Interac and Visa Debit only

      Alumni transcripts (prior to Fall Term 2006)

      Alumni (who completed all classes before Fall of 2006) can order a transcript by mail or email. Otherwise, please contact the Registrar’s Office to gain access to your Aurora account.
       

      1. Requesting and submitting your Transcript Order
        • Complete the Alumni Transcript Request Form. You may fill it out virtually or print it out. Electronic signatures are acceptable.

        • You must include a copy of your government-issued photo ID with your request. This is so we can confirm your identity.
           

      2. Delivery information
        • Email: Transcripts can only be emailed to one of the approved educational institutions, check the List of Educational Institutions for email delivery above. To send a transcript to one of these Educational Institutions, include their delivery information in the 'Delivery method' section of the request form. Emailed transcripts cost $30 per copy total.

        • Mail: Transcripts can be sent by mail through Canada Post to any destination for no additional charge.

        • Courier: Transcripts can be couriered to a destination of your choice. Please note, we cannot courier to a PO Box. Additional courier fees will apply.
           

      3. Payment Information
        • Ensure you provide payment information on the form. You may enter your Visa or MasterCard (Card number and expiry date) in the last part of the request form.
        • Alternatively, you can send the form by mail with a Cheque enclosed. Cheques must be made payable to the University of Manitoba.
           
      4. Submitting your Request
        • Email or mail the completed transcript order form and a copy of a government-issued photo-ID to:

      Extended Education transcripts

      If you took certificate courses prior to 2014, these records are held separately in Extended Education.

      • Current students/students after May 2014

        You must order your transcripts online through Aurora if:

        • You are a current student
        • A student who took certificate courses
        • A student who took individual, non-degree UM Extended Education courses after May 2014

      • Students before May 2014

        You must order your transcripts by completing the Extended Education Transcript Request form (PDF) if you took certificate courses and/or individual non-degree courses before May 2014.

      Official stamped copy of course descriptions

      Stamped course descriptions are brief 1-3 sentence descriptions of a course, taken from the Academic Calendar.

      Please note that Course descriptions are NOT the same as the course syllabus. If you require course syllabi, please contact the department that offered the course.

      The fee for Stamped Copies of Course Descriptions (up to 5 descriptions) is $11.75 ($2.00 charged per additional course description).

      Requesting this document:
      1. Fill out the form, including the payment section.
      2. Email the form to Registrar.Office@umanitoba.ca
        • Ensure you include a copy of your government-issued photo ID.
      3. Your request will take approximately five working days for processing.

      Medical verifications

      Medical students requiring verification of medical credentials should contact the Dean’s office, Max Rady College of Medicine.
