Confirmation of Degree Awarded document

  • About Confirmation of Degree Awarded

    Confirmation of Degree Awarded letters can only be prepared for graduates of the University of Manitoba. This document includes the student's full name, the degree conferred, and the date of graduation. the document is prepared on UM letterhead and bears a signature nd the Registrar's Office stamp.

    This document is $13.00 and may take a minimum of two weeks to process. The fee is subject to change.

    If you have declared graduation but have not yet graduated, you will need an Eligibility to Graduate letter.

     

  • Use as an Invitation letter

    This letter can be used as an invitation letter for February graduates attending Spring Convocation. When used as an invitation letter, the confirmation of degree awarded letter includes the dates of the upcoming Spring Convocation, which February graduates are invited to participate at. The certificate is prepared on UM letterhead and bears a signature and the Registrar's Office stamp.

    If you are graduating in Spring or Fall, you will need to use the Eligibility to graduate letter as an invitation letter.

To request this document:
  1. Log in to Aurora
  2. Locate the "Order a Document" card.
  3. Select "Request Confirmation of Degree Awarded."
  4. Follow the menu prompts and select your delivery method: 
    • Email to a UM student email
    • Standard mail (through Canada Post)
  5. Select your payment method: credit card (Visa and Mastercard) and Visa Debit only
  6. Your document will be sent out to the address provided in 10 business days. 

All requests to be sent to prospective employers, academic institutions and other third-parties must be referred to AuraData. If more information is required, the student can order an enrolment verification or transcript.

Confirmation of eligibility to graduate

About Eligibility to Graduate Letters

A Confirmation of Eligibility to Graduate letter is prepared for students who have declared their intent to graduate but have not yet graduated.

This document includes the student's full name, the degree they are expecting to receive and the date of their expected graduation. 

To request your Confirmation of Eligibility to Graduate letter, follow these steps:
  1. Locate the "Order a document” card on your Aurora Home Page.
  2. Select the “Request a Confirmation of Eligibility to Graduate" link.
  3. Select the SAML login option.
  4. Once logged in, the Confirmation of Eligibility to Graduate form will load.

The cost to produce the letter is $13.00, with a processing time of at least two weeks.

Undergraduate students:

When a confirmation of eligibility to graduate letter is requested before all your final grades are posted, it will confirm that you are expected to complete the requirements for your degree and the date you will be eligible to graduate subject to Senate ratification.

When a confirmation of eligibility to graduate letter is ordered after all final grades are posted, it will confirm that you have completed the requirements of your degree and the date you will be eligible to graduate subject to Senate ratification.

 

Graduate students:

When a confirmation of eligibility to graduate letter is requested after you have completed all Faculty of Graduate Studies graduate submission requirements, the letter will confirm that you have completed the requirements for your degree, the date you completed the requirements and the date you will be eligible to graduate subject to Senate ratification.

For students who are in the Thesis/Practicum Route, the day you submit your thesis/practicum to MSpace will be the date you have completed the requirements for your degree.

For those students in the Comprehensive Examination or the M. ENg. Project Route, the day your final report is received by the Faculty of Graduate Studies will be the date you have complleted the requirments of the program.

For those students in the Course based/Major Research Paper Route, the date your last grade is loaded into Aurora will be the date you have completed the requirements for your degree.

Certified copy of degree

For students wanting a certified copy of their degree.

About Certified Copies of Degree

The Registrar's Office can provide a Certified Copy of Degree, but the University does not have duplicate parchments or any copies of original parchments that were previously issued to graduates.

Graduates are required to provide a clear copy of their own parchment for certification. The copy will be given a stamp along with a signature and date. The certified copy will bear the embossed UM seal over the signature.

These documents are $13.00 each and can up to ten business days. The fee is subject to change.

Parchment delivery request

For students not attending convocation.

About Parchment Delivery Requests

A parchment (degree) delivery request can be made by a student who would like to have their parchment delivered by express post or courier. Parchments are ready 2 weeks after the last Convocation ceremony (for May and October) or 2 weeks after the announced graduation date (for February).

If you are attending your convocation ceremony, you will receive your parchment at the ceremony.
 

To request this document:
  1. Fill out the PDF form.
    • Please be sure to include payment information at the bottom of the form.
  2. Email the form to Registrar.Office@umanitoba.ca
    • Ensure you are sending the request in from your student email address.
    • If you do not have access to a student email address, please send a copy of your government-issued photo ID with your request.
  3. Your document will be mailed to the address provided 2 weeks after the last ceremony or graduation date.

Replacement parchment

For the replacement of a lost, damaged or updated degree.

  • About Replacement Parchments

    If your parchment has been lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed or your Legal name has changed, you may apply for a replacement parchment. Please note the replacement parchment looks similar to the original, and the wording certifies you have graduated, but it is NOT a duplicate of your original parchment.

    The fee for a replacement parchment is $81.25 and can take five business days. Fees are subject to change

     

  • Returning an old or damaged parchment

    If you are requesting a replacement parchment as part of a change of name request, or due to the parchment being damaged, we require that you return your original parchment to the Registrar's Office, this must be done by mail.

Change of degree designation from Bachelor of Laws to Juris Doctor
 

About changing degree designation

The University of Manitoba Senate has approved the change in degree designation from "Bachelor of Laws" to "Juris Doctor" for any past recipients of the Bachelor of Laws degree.

The Replacement Parchment looks similar to the original, and the wording certifies that you have graduated, but it is NOT a duplicate of your original parchment. It will be printed on the same paper as current parchments are printed, including the University of Manitoba seal, using the same font as current original parchments use, in landscape format.

Your original parchment must be returned with your request, we can only receive original parchments by mail.

The fee for a Replacement Parchment is $81.25 and can take five to six business weeks. Fees are subject to change.
