    Customized professional development

    Think of Applied Management as your customized professional development. With this program, you will work on your management, team leadership, communications and industry skills to earn your UM certificate. You will begin with the core courses including an introduction to Canadian business management, principles of team leadership and communication in business. Next, you will select the combination of elective courses to meet your individual needs or the needs of your organization. Elective course topics range from business methodology and skills to human resource management, leadership development, and specialized topics in business and management.

    If you are employed by one of our partner organizations, your electives may already be packaged for you. Or, you will work with your sponsor to choose the most appropriate elective courses from our selection. Electives may include professional development offerings with your organization or customized courses created for your organization.
    If you are not employed by one of our partner organizations, you will choose your options based on your own career plans and goals. We have many elective course options to choose from.

Program objectives

The objectives of the program are to:

  • provide an introduction to contemporary business management in the Canadian context
  • provide advanced introductions to principles of team leadership and communications within a business context 
  • provide professional development in additional general, specialized, and/or industry-specific topics in business and management, according to participant and partner needs

  • Submit your required documents within two weeks of completing your application form.

You must be admitted to a program in order to graduate with your credential.
