College of Rehabilitation Sciences (CoRS) researchers conduct research and scholarship that enhances the health and quality of life of Canadians.

- Interprofessional and person-centred education and practice

- issues relevant to living in northern, rural or remote environments

Program details
The Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences requires the completion of coursework and a research-based thesis.
Expected duration: 2-4 years
Tuition and fees: Program fees are assessed in the first two terms of study, followed by a continuing fee in the third and any subsequent terms. (refer to Graduate tuition and fees)
The Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences program normally requires a total of 12 credit hours of course work, consisting of the completion of four 3 credit hour or half courses, in addition to the completion of a research-based thesis. Courses are selected with the approval of an advisor.

The thesis requires the completion of an original scientific study. Students are required to formally propose a topic and research, write and defend a thesis. There are supplemental regulations governing our program students should become familiar with.
Prior to starting the application process, applicants must contact potential advisors and find a College of Rehabilitation Sciences faculty member whose research interests align with theirs, and is available and willing to act as advisor.
When contacting potential advisors, the applicant should include:
- A description of the student’s background and area of research interest
- A current CV/resume
- Proposed timeframe for studying
- Copies of transcripts
- English language test scores (if applicable)
Admission requirements
To qualify for admission to the Master of Science Rehabilitation Sciences program you must have:
- A confirmed faculty member from the College of Rehabilitation Sciences who has agreed to supervise you in the MSc program. If the applicant does not name a CoRS-based faculty member in their application, who has confirmed that they will supervise the student in the MSc program, the application will be denied.
A four-year bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in:
- physical therapy
- occupational therapy
- respiratory therapy
- or related discipline, such as:
- kinesiology
- biomedical engineering
- exercise science
with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (B) in the last 60 credit hours of study.
In addition to the admission requirements described here, all applicants must meet the minimum admission and English language proficiency requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
How to apply
Applications for the Master of Rehabilitation Sciences program are accepted for Fall and Winter entry. Applications must be completed online and include several parts:
- A confirmed advisor within the College of Rehabilitation Sciences prior to application
- Application fee (non-refundable)
- Unofficial copies of transcripts
- Two letters of recommendation (must be requested from within the application)
- Proof of English language proficiency, if required
