Program details
The Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences offer a two-year program of study leading to a Master of Science in Community Health Sciences.
Expected duration: 2 years
Tuition and fees: Program fees are assessed in the first two terms of study, followed by a continuing fee in the third and any subsequent terms. (refer to Graduate tuition and fees)
In addition to the minimum course requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, found in the Graduate Studies Regulations Section, students must complete:
- A minimum of 21 credit hours of coursework at the 7000-level
- A thesis

Admission requirements
The following are minimum requirements to be considered for entry into the Community Health Sciences (MSc) program. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
To be considered for admission to the Community Health Sciences (MSc) program, you must have:
- A four-year bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last two full years of study.
- A satisfactory English language proficiency test score, if applicable. Higher English language test scores are normally required to be competitive in the admissions review process, particularly for the writing band of these specific English language tests:
- IELTS: An overall score of at least 7, must include all components of the test (i.e., listening, reading, writing and speaking), where the writing band is not lower than a score of 7.
- TOEFL (iBT): a minimum total score of 92 is required, with a writing score no lower than 21
- If an applicant does not meet these writing score requirements, the Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP) is accepted if completed prior to starting the program.
Meeting these requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
In addition to the admission requirements described here, all applicants must meet the minimum admission and English language proficiency requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
How to apply
The Community Health Sciences (MSc) program accepts applications for Fall entry only. Applications must be completed online and include several parts:
- Application fee (non-refundable)
- Unofficial copies of transcripts and degree certificates
- CV/resumé
- Three letters of recommendation (must be requested from within the application)
- Proof of English language proficiency, if required
