Role

Wanda engages in research related to various aspects of teaching and learning in higher education, including developing and testing innovative interventions through research and/or evaluation studies. She also works closely with faculty and external units to collaborate and assist researchers in scholarly activities related to teaching and learning in academia. In her current role at the Centre, she is examining health as a factor in undergraduate academic persistence as well as investigating postsecondary education as a potential determinant of brain health among older adults.

Biography

After completing her PhD in Brain and Cognitive Sciences in the Department of Psychology, University of Manitoba, Wanda received her postdoctoral training in the Division of Neurodegenerative Disorders, St. Boniface Albrechtsen Research Centre, where she investigated transcriptional regulation of learning and memory in models of Alzheimer’s disease. As a former Research Development Officer with the College of Nursing, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, she provided research support to faculty, including grant development, manuscript preparation, and serving as a liaison between faculty, collaborators, and funders. She has previously held several Research Associate positions within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences (Community Health Sciences, Medical Education, Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics) and has been an instructor of adult education at adult learning centres and postsecondary institutions (Assiniboine Community College, Brandon University).
