Role

Janet works collaboratively to develop and implement initiatives related to student ratings of instruction (SRI) and the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL). Janet also supports faculty and instructors in their use of evidence-based practices through the design and delivery of workshops and resources related to SRI and SoTL.

Biography

Over her twenty-year career as an educator, Janet has worked to help teachers at varied career stages and levels to improve their practices.  As an associate professor and chair of the music education department at Rider University (Princeton, NJ), Janet taught pedagogy and research methods to undergraduate and graduate students, and conducted workshops with in-service teachers.  While at Rider Janet also had the opportunity to work with faculty as a member of the Teaching and Learning Center and to deepen her interest in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Janet’s research has focused on meaningful education and on the application of technology to support creativity.  She is currently exploring the practice of “making” as a model of education that is collaborative, iterative and playful, and she has conducted workshops on coding and making for children and adults.

When not at The Centre Janet enjoys reading, sewing, spending time with family, and geocaching with her son.
