Registration and Fees
Registration is completed using the Aurora System. Students without internet access should contact the School of Art Undergraduate Student Advisor for assistance.
Registration for Fall and Winter term courses occurs in July and August.

Photo Identification Card
Your UM Student ID card provides access to:
School of Art facilities
Libraries
Active Living Centre
Food services and meal plans
Bus pass with PEG-GO card
Examinations and other student services
Students may now obtain their card online. For details, see the Registrar’s Office website. Please carry your ID card at all times.
Activate UM Net ID
Your UM Net ID grants access to UM email, Wi-Fi, UM Learn, and more.
For assistance, contact the IST Service Desk (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.; 204-474-8600 ext. 123 Fletcher Argue).
The University communicates exclusively through your @myumanitoba.ca account. Check regularly for important deadlines and notices.
Lockers
Lockers are available through the School of Art General Office (313 ARTlab).
Cost: $10 per locker, per academic year (September–April)
One materials locker in ARTlab and one coat locker in the tunnel may be requested
Lockers must be emptied at the end of Winter Term. Unclaimed contents will incur a $25 fee and an account hold on Aurora.
Print Account
All students are required to pay an initial $20 print fee, covering printing for Fall and Winter Terms (September–April). Accounts reset annually on April 30. Print credits can be added to your account in $5 increments.
Add money to your account by visiting Franc Fernandez in Room 335 ARTlab during regular office hours.
Scent-Free Policy and Smoking on Campus
- The School of Art is a scent-sensitive environment. Please refrain from using any scented products.
- Smoking is prohibited within eight (8) meters or twenty-five (25) feet of any building entrance on the Fort Garry campus.
- Smoking or vaping cannabis is prohibited on campus, including within all residences. Students who can present a valid prescription for marijuana will be accommodated through an allowance within the guidelines of the Clean Air policy that permits smoking at least 25 feet from an outside entrance. Respectful Work and Learning Environment (RWLE)

Office of Human Rights and Conflict Management
The Office of Human Rights and Conflict Management (OHRCM) promotes a respectful working and learning environment in which individuals are treated equitably and diversity is valued.
Security Services
The University’s Security Program is administered by Security Services located in the Welcome Centre, 423 University Crescent open Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Officers are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The department provides service to students, staff and all users of the Fort Garry Campus.

School of Fine Art Student Association (SOFASA)
Organizes social events, fundraising initiatives, and provides financial support for student-led projects.

UM Ceramics Club
Hosts lectures, workshops, and the 1000 Miles Apart Conference (co-presented with the School of Art every five years).

UM Photo Club
Brings together students interested in photography of all kinds — film, digital, and experimental. Offers photo walks, workshops, peer critiques, and exhibitions.

UM Filmmakers Club
A collaborative community for students exploring filmmaking, video art, and media production. Members produce short films, host screenings, and connect with Winnipeg’s thriving film and video community.
Get Inspired On and Off Campus
School of Art Gallery
The Gallery exhibits contemporary and historical art, produces publications, and hosts public programming. It fosters creativity, research, and critical dialogue.

Student Gallery
The Student Gallery hosts rotating exhibitions curated in collaboration with the Selection Committee. Exhibitions typically run for 1–2 weeks, giving students valuable professional experience in presenting their work. Proposals are invited each Fall.

Visiting Speakers Series
Renowned professionals in contemporary art, criticism, and design are invited to campus each year. The program includes public lectures, critiques, and opportunities for students to engage directly with visiting speakers. Students may also propose speakers during Fall and Winter submission periods.
UM Architecture/Fine Arts Library
The province’s largest art, design, and planning collection—books, catalogues, maps, journals, and more.

Across Campus & Beyond
Explore concerts, theatre productions, design showcases, and literary events across UM. With more than 100 annual events, students have access to a rich and diverse arts scene.
Winnipeg is recognized as a cultural hub, home to internationally acclaimed festivals, artist-run centres, and galleries. Explore local organizations such as Plug In ICA, Martha Street Studio, aceartinc., Urban Shaman, and the Winnipeg Art Gallery – Qaumajuq, among many others.
