Graduate students

All students who are accepted into a research-based graduate program are guaranteed a basic minimum stipend, which is set by the department on an annual basis. Current stipends are summarized in the table.

Please note that the listed amounts reflect the actual stipend, which may contain additional top-ups, not the value of the associated awards.

Additional income from teaching assistantships, based on availability and qualification, can be up to $ 3,000.

  3. All scholarships, except for NSERC fellowships, are available to international students.
  4. The numbers in the table are projections for the coming year and can be subject to revision. Policy changes by national and provincial agencies and the university are beyond our control.
  5. NSERC CGRS-M is a one-year award. However, newly admitted students who receive it in their first year are eligible for the Tri-Agency Master’s Supplemental Award (TMSA) in the second year of their master’s program. The TMSA is administered by the FGPS and is valued at $20,000 over a 12-month duration.
