Eligibility requirements

UM Students

All currently enrolled UM students who have paid the Sport and Recreation Fee with their tuition are eligible to participate in intramural sports.


UM Staff and Faculty

Active staff and faculty of the University of Manitoba who hold a Sport and Recreation Center membership are also eligible to participate in intramural sports.

League information

All teams play a minimum of six games. Intramurals will finish prior to exams starting and no games are played during reading week.

Open 

Open league is for teams consisting of any combination of genders of students, faculty and staff members who meet the specific eligibility requirements of intramural play.

Mixed

Mixed league requires teams to have a minimum of 2 women players playing at all times. It is open to all students, faculty and staff members who meet the specific eligibility requirements of intramural play.

Competitive

The competitive league is for participants looking to challenge themselves with other players of intermediate to advanced skill levels to compete for the championship.

Recreational

The recreational league is all about having fun in a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere. Players of all skill levels can participate, learn and grow at their own pace.

Registration

Winter 2025 registration information.

We accept registrations on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Registration dates

Team Captain and Free Agent registration opens on Thursday, January 2nd (noon). Registration will close on Sunday, January 19 or when team spots fill up.

Player registration opens shortly after captains register their teams. The team captain's individual player fee is waived as they pay the default deposit.

How to register online

Team Captains

  1. Claim your account in the Sport and Recreation registration system (watch this tutorial video for instructions on how to claim your account).
  2. Find 'Intramural Sports & Clubs' and register under 'Intramurals'
    • Scroll down to the sport for which you want to reserve a spot. Availability is first-come, first-serve.
    • Click "add to cart" and proceed to check out.
  3. Pay for the deposit, and the Intramural Coordinator will follow up with more information on how to proceed.

Players and free agents

To register for Intramurals, students must first complete the following:

  1. Complete their waiver on Aurora
  2. Be enrolled in courses for the summer term or have an active student gym membership.

Once this is complete, students can register online by following these steps:

  1. Claim your account in the Sport and Recreation registration system
  2. Register for your team online by find your team and clicking 'add to cart'
  • If you do not have a team you can register for the 'Free Agent Team' under your desired sport. 
  • The sport supervisor will be in contact with you to help set up your IMLeagues account. 

IM Leagues - Registration Instructions

Sport supervisors will be responsible for adding players to their IMLeagues Team.

To assist supervisors in this please create or activate your account on IMLeagues.com using your UM email address/ICM email address.
