Recreation Services provides membership and recreational programming opportunities for our university community and the general public at both our Fort Garry and Bannatyne campuses.

Programs and services

UM Recreation Services offers a wide variety of services for students and the larger UM community.

Membership

We have membership options to suit your needs and budget. Learn about everything you need to know to ensure you have a great experience.
Adult programs

Our programs are a fun way to learn something new and stay active, including activity options for every level. While sessions are currently suspended, programs normally start in January, April, July and September. Please stay tuned for updates.
Climbing

Enjoy our bouldering wall and 35-foot climbing wall with varying difficulty levels with seven ropes and four auto-belays. Climbing is an excellent way to challenge yourself mentally, get a full-body workout and develop flexibility.
Intramural sports

Intramural sports aim to get members of the UM community active and having fun through competitive sport against their peers. Learn more and register a team today!
Rec clubs

Student-led, student-delivered and student-focused. Our Rec Clubs offer the opportunity to participate in a sport of interest while making friends and staying active. Clubs are open to students, staff and alumni.
Occupational testing

Our testing services include assessing applicants to see if they are physically able to meet the demands of their potential position before employment or assessing employees' abilities already performing physically demanding occupations. Our testing centre meets rigorous national standards for exercise testing.

Personal Training

Recreation Services provides affordable, high-quality personal training, counselling and fitness assessments.
Training and Certifications

We offer fitness leadership development courses recognized by the Manitoba Fitness Council (MFC), First aid and CPR as well as National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certifications.

Joe Doupe Recreation Centre

Get active at the Bannatyne campus!

The Joe Doupe Recreation Centre is the primary fitness and recreation centre at the downtown UM Bannatyne Campus. It is located in the lower level of the Brodie Centre, 727 McDermot Avenue.
