Recording in Zoom in UM Learn

  1. Start your Zoom meeting, open your presentation (if applicable), and wait for the participants to join your meeting. 
  2. When you are ready, click on the Record button from the toolbar and select Record to the Cloud to have your recording saved in your course in UM Learn.
  3. A notification will appear indicating that your recording has been started and participants will be prompted to provide their consent to be recorded in the meeting.  
  4. You can pause and resume your recording at any time using the icons in the toolbar.
  5. To stop recording, select Stop icon and click Yes when asked for confirmation.

Note: You will receive an email when the recording is processed and available for you to view.

Accessing your recordings in UM Learn

  1. Log into UM Learn (umanitoba.ca/umlearn) and select your course.
  2. Select Integration > UM Zoom.
  3. Click Cloud Recordings and select the title of the meeting.

Recording on your local computer 

You can also record your meeting on your local computer instead of your course in UM Learn. 

  1. Click Record button located on the tool bar and select “Record on this computer”.
  2. A notification will appear indicating that your recording has been started and participants will be prompted to provide their consent to be recorded in the meeting.
  3. You can pause and resume recording at any time using the icons in the toolbar. To stop the recording, select Stop icon.
  4. The recording will be converted after the meeting ends.
  5. You can access the MP4 file in your Documents > Zoom > folder titled the same as your meeting

Record a meeting

  • By default, only the host of the video call, in this case, the instructor, can record the meeting in Webex.
  • Once the meeting is set up and the participants are present, you can start recording your meeting.
  • Your recordings can either be saved on your course in UM Learn or on your local computer. Recordings will include the participants’ audio and video, content shared during the meeting, and public chat messages.

Record in your UM Learn course (Cloud)

  1. Click the Record button. The Record button is at the bottom of the window. Note: If you do not see the record button, you may not be the host of the meeting.
  2. Select Record in Cloud, and then click Record.
  3. To stop recording, click the Record button, and then click Stop.

Note: Recordings can take up to 24 hours to show up in the Event Recordings list in your course in UM Learn.

Stream recordings in UM Learn

  1. Log into UM Learn (https://umanitoba.ca/umlearn) and open your course.
  2. Click Communication> Cisco Webex, and then click the Event Recordings tab.
  3. Click View Recordings.
  4. Select the meeting event name of your meeting session (labeled with streaming at the end) to view the recording.

Downloads are not enabled in UM Learn. If you want to download recordings from UM Learn, contact IST Service Desk (servicedesk@umanitoba.ca or 204-474-8600).

Record on your local computer

The local recording is saved in MP4 format with the name and folder of your choice.

  1. Click the Record button. 

  2. Select Record on my computer, and then click Record.
  3. Name the recording file and indicate where it will be saved on your computer, and then click Save.
  4. To stop recording, click the Record button, and then click Stop.

  1. How to upload an MP4 file to course content
  2. In your course, click on Content (on the navbar).
  3. Select the module to which you would like to add the recording.
  4. Within the module, click New > Video or Audio.
  5. Select the Upload tab > Browse.
  6. Locate the file you wish to upload and double click on it.
  7. Wait for file to upload. This could take a while (5-10 minutes), depending on how large your file is and how strong your internet connection is. Technically the maximum file size is 2GB, however, if your internet connection is not strong, you may not be able to upload a file of that size. 
  8. Give a title for the recording and click Save.
  9. View preview of the video.
  10. Confirm the video appears in content in the correct module.
