Materials chemistry draws from the traditional chemical disciplines to create new materials for a wide range of technological applications. Key to advancement is understanding how the chemical constituents arrange structurally to produce desired properties. Materials research in our department focuses on batteries, fuel cells, photovoltaics, catalysis and biologically active glasses.
