• About the program

In this program, you’ll have the chance to engage with northern and rural communities through both clinical and cultural experiences. The number of students accepted each year depends on available funding and whether a community is able to host a placement.

Before you head to your community, you’ll attend an orientation. Ongomiizwin – Health Services typically arranges accommodations at the local Nursing Station or Health Centre, and also covers your travel expenses.

    Eligibility

The Early Exposure Program is open to Med I and Med II students at the University of Manitoba. Through this program, you’ll spend anywhere from four days to three weeks immersed in an Indigenous community.
