About
Our Micro-Diploma in Canadian Public Law and Micro-Diploma in Canadian Private Law, offer a clear pathway to satisfy the Federation of Law Societies’ National Committee on Accreditation’s (NCA) requirements and, ultimately, become licensed to practice law in Canada.
Each internationally trained lawyer’s journey to licensure in Canada is unique. The Internationally Trained Lawyer Program offers customized and flexible pathways to meet the needs and learning goals of most internationally trained lawyers. Students who require additional course work and/or in-person learning, including those trained in civil law jurisdictions for whom the NCA offers no recognition for prior credentials, can achieve their goals through our micro-diploma(s) taken in combination with upper year admission to our Juris Doctor program (non-degree granting) and/or our graduate degrees (separate application(s) and admission required).
Features of a micro-diploma
Our micro-diplomas are short, flexible programs of study which focuses on core knowledge in either Canadian Public Law or Canadian Private Law. Limited to 18 credit hours and designed to be completed in one academic year, each micro-diploma is sufficient to complete NCA requirements for many internationally trained lawyers. For internationally trained lawyers with more additional learning needs and goals, we offer customizable learning pathways (separate applications and admission required).
