Our graduate students are determined to meet today’s challenges with innovative solutions. Learn how their research will build a better world at Three Minute Thesis – UM's annual research communication competition.
MT180
Ma thèse en 180 secondes is a French-language communication contest launched by Acfas (Association francophone pour le savoir) in 2012, modelled after the Three Minute Thesis competition founded by The University of Queensland in 2008. Each challenger, in three minutes or less, must present a clear, concise explanation of their research project, in French.
3MP
The 3 Minute Postdoc competition is modelled after the 3MT (Three Minute Thesis) competition held in universities worldwide.

Annual Awards Reception
Celebrating outstanding achievement across the University of Manitoba community by recognizing faculty, staff, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows whose contributions have strengthened graduate education, research and mentorship.
Staff workshops
Professional development workshops will be offered in two broad areas: Graduate Administration and Graduate Mentoring. There are several benefits to this program:
- It promotes the importance of professional development to all those working with our graduate students.
- It recognizes those who have made the effort to attend and develop their skills in support of students.
- Faculty members can add this onto their CV as one way to demonstrate their commitment to the development of highly qualified personnel.
All GEM workshops are open to faculty, staff and postdoctoral fellows invested in supporting graduate students.
