Refugee Entrance to IAEP Bursary

This bursary is for students with refugee backgrounds. Applicants will be asked to show proof of their refugee status when submitting the bursary application to the English Language Centre.

Qualifications

  • Are refugees to Canada who have English as an additional language (EAL) as assessed by the English Language Centre (ELC)
  • Are registered in the Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP) for the upcoming term at the English Language Centre at the University of Manitoba
  • Have demonstrated financial need on the English Language Centre bursary application form as approved by the Financial Aid and Awards office at the University of Manitoba

 

Value

  • Each term (three times a year total), one or more bursaries, up to but not exceeding the value of full tuition costs per student for one full term.

Newcomer Entrance to IAEP Level 5 Bursary

This bursary is for Canadian immigrants and Canadian Permanent Resident students who have submitted English proficiency scores to enter Level 5.

Qualifications

  • Are immigrants to Canada or are Permanent Residents who have English as an additional language (EAL) as assessed by the English Language Centre (ELC)
  • Are registered in the Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP) for the upcoming term at the University of Manitoba, English Language Centre and meet the requirements for IAEP Level 5, as assessed by the English Language Centre
  • Have demonstrated financial need on the English Language Centre bursary application form as approved by the Financial Aid and Awards office at the University of Manitoba.

Value

  • Each term (three times a year total), one or more bursaries, up to but not exceeding the value of full tuition costs for one full term per student.

How to apply

Students who would like to apply for a bursary from the English Language Centre must submit the corresponding application form along with all required documentation to the English Language Centre email elc@umanitoba.ca no later than the posted deadline.

Deadlines

  • April 1 for the term beginning in May.
  • August 1 for the term beginning in September.
  • December 1 for the term beginning in January.

Applicants should note that the deadline to submit tuition fees is postponed to the start of the program if a bursary application has been submitted by the deadline.
