Program Planning

Degree planning is about more than just making sure you take the right courses! The School of Art encourages you to take a holistic look at your academic and career planning, which includes professional development, community engagement and work experience.

It's the responsibility of each UM student to understand the specific graduation requirements of their chosen program and ensure that the courses they select each term are appropriate. There are many tools at your disposal to help you plan your degree.

Run a degree audit with UM Achieve

UM Achieve is an excellent program planning tool! Run a degree audit to see if you are on track to meet your program requirements and determine which courses you still need to take.

You can also run a what-if audit to see your progress in other programs of interest.

Note: UM Achieve is only available to School of Art students admitted in Fall 2021 and onward. Degree audits for second degree students will appear incomplete. Students who are unable to use UM Achieve should request an updated progress report for accurate program planning information.

Follow the Academic Calendar

The Academic Calendar is the University's official publication containing course descriptions, program and graduation requirements, as well as UM and faculty/school-specific rules, regulations and policies.

The Calendar is intended for the guidance of persons applying or considering applying for admission to or registering for classes at the University of Manitoba and for the guidance of University students and faculty. This Calendar is generally the manual for how the University intends to proceed each academic year.

Request a Progress Report

Progress reports are specialized program planning documents maintained by the Student Advisor. Requesting an updated copy of your progress report at the end of each term is a great way to ensure that you're meeting graduation requirements! Progress reports are available to all students in the B.F.A. Studio and Art History programs.
