Introducing Black Theology (Series)

Wednesdays in October from 12:00 - 1:00 PM on Zoom

In this four week series, folks will be introduced to some of the leading thinkers in the field of Black Theology. The series will be seminar-style. Each week registered participants will receive a short essay that they are encouraged to read ahead of time (though not required!) and then we will join together for a short presentation and conversation about the author and their article. We will read work by James Cone, Willie Jennings, and Delores Williams. For the final session we will be joined by Dr Chanelle Robinson, a Womanist ecotheologian teaching at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts for a special presentation.

Being Human in the Age of AI: Engaging Pope Leo's Encyclical Magnifica Humanitas (Series)

Join us on Mondays in November for a chapter by chapter walk-through of Pope Leo's recent encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas. In an age of rising inequality, increasingly high-tech war, and the destabilizing influence of AI, Leo offers a vision of human dignity that can respond creatively and hopefully to the most vexxing questions of our time. Each week we will be joined by a subject-area expert to help us navigate this rich text. We hope you'll join us for the journey!

Carmen Lansdowne, Book Talk

On November 5th, 2025, Carmen Lansdowne, the former Moderator of the United Church of Canada had a conversation about her book, "Wearing a Broken Indigene Heart on the Sleeve of Christian Mission".

"I intended this work to be audacious in its politics. I claim most forthrightly and unabashedly that the politics of Indigenous theology matter. What we think about God and God's mission in the world matters, and it profoundly affects what we do or don't do."
