• About the program

In this program, you’ll have the opportunity to engage both clinically and culturally with northern and rural communities. The number of students accepted each year depends on funding availability and whether a community can accommodate you for the summer.

Before you head to your community, you’ll attend an orientation. Accommodations are typically provided at the Nursing Station or Health Centre, arranged by the Northern Medical Unit. Travel expenses are covered by Ongomiizwin – Health Services.

    Eligibility

The Early Exposures Summer Student Program is open to Med I, Med II, and School of Medical Rehabilitation students at the University of Manitoba. Through this program, you’ll spend ten days in a First Nations or Inuit community.
