Academic profile management
Did you know that you have a profile if you are ever published or conducted research? Learn how to manage and enhance your profile to improve your reach.
Steps you can take to manage your profile
- Enhance your profile using traditional and social media tools
- Optimize your ORCID profile with persistent identifiers to improve your impact and profile
- Familiarize yourself with responsible use of research impact metrics
- Avoid so-called ‘predatory publishers’ (Open Access Predatory Publisher topic in OS Toolkit) – see University of Toronto Checklist
How we can help you
The Research Services librarian can assist you to manage your profile to promote your work and ensure your efforts are accurately represented. In individual consultation or in support of a group/faculty/department level project:
- Identify key profiles that influence your impact and used for institutional reporting/representation of your work
- Disambiguate a profile and/or unify multiple profiles of you under one
- Activate/incorporate persistent identifier systems to auto-populate a profile or harness integrations across the scholarly ecosystem
We also provide workshop and presentations on academic profile management. See Libraries’ workshop schedule or contact your liaison librarian.
