Rady Faculty of Health Sciences College of Rehabilitation Sciences: Occupational Therapy Accelerated applicant admission requirements (2026-2027)

The selection process for the Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) Accelerated Program adheres to the Academic Calendar of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and the Occupational Therapy Supplemental Regulations. 

This process is managed by the MOT Accelerated Selections Committee, a standing committee of the Master of Occupational Therapy Program Committee within the College of Rehabilitation Sciences.

Successful applicants are admitted to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Please read and understand all the information here and in the associated documents before submitting your application.

Programs Offered

There are two options in the Master of Occupational Therapy program:

Regular Program (two-year)

For individuals holding a previous undergraduate degree who are interested in pursuing a career in occupational therapy.

Accelerated Program (one-year)

For applicants who currently hold a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation (Occupational Therapy) degree or equivalent.

The number of students admitted to the Master of Occupational Therapy Accelerated Program depends on resource availability at the time of application. Applicants are encouraged to contact the Head of the Department of Occupational Therapy to discuss research interests and project supervision before applying.

To apply to the Accelerated Program, you must meet these eligibility requirements by the application deadline:

• Bachelor’s Degree: Completion of a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation (Occupational Therapy) or equivalent
• GPA: Minimum of ‘B’ (3.0) in the last 60 credit hours
• Additional Credits: Completion of 42 non-Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation (Occupational Therapy) credit hours
• Certification: Proof of passing the National Occupational Therapy Certification Exam (NOTCE) or eligibility for registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba

A. Application Fee

Applications to the Master of Occupational Therapy Accelerated program are available on-line with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Your application is considered received when:

• Online form is submitted
• Non-refundable application fee is paid

Fees:

• Domestic fee: $100 (Canadian citizens, Permanent Residents of Canada, Refugees)
• International fee: $130 (U.S. citizens, international applicants)

B. Deadlines and Important Dates

The Admissions and Selection Committee evaluates applicants based on:

• Program alignment: How well your study topics and course selection match faculty resources.

After decisions are made:

• Email notification: You'll receive an email to log into your application portal.
• Accept or decline: If admitted, you must accept or decline the offer within 10 days.
• Offer expiration: If you don’t accept within 10 days, the offer will expire and be considered declined.
• Check regularly: Be sure to check both your email and application portal frequently.

Appeals Process

Individuals who wish to appeal a decision made by the Selections Committee should consult The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Academic Guide and the University of Manitoba Policy on Admission Appeals Procedures and Guidelines

Procedure for Appeal

1. Request for Reconsideration
   • Submit a formal request for reconsideration in writing.
   • Include all supporting documentation.
   • Send the request within ten (10) business days of receiving the electronic notification of the decision you wish to have reviewed.
   • Email your request to: CORS.MOTprogram@umanitoba.ca.
2. Further Appeal
   • If you wish to appeal the reconsidered decision, submit your appeal within ten (10) days after receiving the reconsidered decision.
   • Send your appeal to the University Secretariat at Room 312 Administration Building, for forwarding to the University of Manitoba’s Senate Committee on Admission Appeals.

Note: The Senate Committee on Admission Appeals will review appeals based on adherence to published policies and procedures by the Selection Committees, not on the substantive merit of the application.

No university official can guarantee admission to any applicant. Admission decisions are made annually by the Committee based on competitive criteria.
