Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
- describe the characteristics of and the diversity within students of today
- identify general aspects of student development theory
- explain what is meant by educating and developing the “whole student”
- apply principles of procedural fairness
- identify steps for responding effectively to typical student cases
- locate and assess own institution's student policies and procedures
- explain important legal issues concerning students (e.g. reasonable accommodation)
- describe student rights and responsibilities (including student conduct, academic integrity)
- describe programs and approaches to increase student success and engagement
