Financial aid and awards

"Since childhood, I’ve had the privilege of discovering my own interests and passions, but I know not everybody is as fortunate. To receive this award is indescribably validating to me. I see it as a statement that the work I do in my community is worth continuing."
– Mia Battad, 2019 Schulich Leader Scholarship recipient

Each year, UM distributes millions of dollars in awards to new and returning students in the form of scholarships, bursaries and prizes based on financial need and academic merit.

Tuition and fees

Your total expenses for each term will vary depending on the number of courses you take, the program you are enrolled in, and your living accommodations and lifestyle.

In addition to scholarships and bursaries, there are several programs you can take advantage of to help cover the costs of your education. For example:

  • If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you can apply for student loans from the federal and provincial governments.
  • The work-study program offers part-time, on-campus employment for students with financial need during the school year.
