Please note that there are two separate processes:

Graduation

The University of Manitoba is responsible for issuing your Bachelor of Education degree and transcript confirming conferral of your B.Ed. degree. 

Certification

Provincial teacher certification is handled separately by the Professional Certification Unit (PCU) under the Province of Manitoba’s Department of Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning. Teaching certificates are issued after UM convocation, once the PCU receives and verifies that applicants meet the requirements. 

It is the responsibility of each graduating Teacher Candidate to:

•    Understand the requirements for graduation and certification
•    Keep careful records, including:  Certificates of completion for Respect in Schools and/or Commit to Kids, and Treaty Training and copies of your Summative Evaluations
•    Follow through with both the graduation requirements and the Teacher Certification application process; and ensure that all documents are submitted correctly, on time, and to the correct location.

•    Monitor your UM Email address throughout the year for any communications regarding graduation. Carefully note any deadlines and action items.
