The Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry is primarily a teaching institution and treatment is provided by students enrolled in Dentistry or Dental Hygiene, or specialists-in-training from one of our graduate programs. Our outstanding training program features excellent instructors from the practicing community in Manitoba coupled with advanced, modern equipment to ensure our students are well prepared to enter practice, and to provide world-class oral health care.

How to become a patient

To become a patient at the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry, please review and complete the online application form.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a patient at the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry. Please note, we have paused new patient screenings as our academic year is ending. Over the next few months, we will be preparing for the rollout of the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).

The CDCP is a Government of Canada program that was created to help ease financial barriers to accessing oral health care for Canadians. Visit the CDCP’s website for more information and to see if you are eligible.

We expect to resume patient screenings in August. Please check back at that time.

What we offer

The Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry offers comprehensive care general dentistry, including:
- dental hygiene care and instructions for good oral hygiene
- dental implants
- dental x-rays
- diagnosis of disease, injury and decay
- endodontics (including root canals)
- examination of teeth, gums and surrounding tissue
- full geriatric care for seniors
- oral and maxillofacial surgery (including extractions)
- orthodontics (braces)
- pediatric dentistry for children
- periodontics (including diagnosis and treatment of gum disease)
- prosthodontics (including crowns and bridges, full dentures, partial dentures)
- restore, extract and / or replace diseased and decayed teeth

Radiology Consultation Room

The state-of-the-art equipment in the Radiology Consultation Room uses a cone-shaped X-ray beam to produce detailed 3D scans of a patient’s jaw and head. The room also provides privacy for consultations with patients about the various types of radiographic imaging performed at the centre.

The newly-renovated teaching and consulting space is located in the Ross McIntyre Digital Imaging Centre in the College of Dentistry, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences.

Fees and payment

Costs

Visiting the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry is a great way get the dental care you need at a more affordable price. Our fees are significantly lower than the various specialties listed in the Manitoba Dental Association Fee Guide, often by as much as 50 per cent.
Payment for services

Payment is expected after each appointment. We accept cash, direct debit, credit cards. If you have dental insurance coverage, our clinic staff will process the dental insurance forms on your behalf and you will be reimbursed by your dental insurance.
Scheduled payments

For patients undergoing extensive treatment over a period of time, such as orthodontic or prosthodontic care, payment does not have to be made all at once. Talk to us about scheduling payments throughout your treatment. Please note that full payment is required by the time treatment is complete.

Fees are dependent on the procedure performed and rates at the College are subject to change. All costs will be discussed before services are performed, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and discuss options.
