Role

As an Educational Developer, Renato supports faculty, staff, and graduate students. He collaborates with other Centre staff members to develop and deliver workshops, teaching development initiatives, and individualized consultations. Areas of expertise include promoting academic integrity, generative artificial intelligence in education, graduate student teaching, and design of course and assessment.

Biography

Born and raised in the northeast region of Brazil, Renato now calls Winnipeg home. He has a background in engineering, philosophy, and education, and over six years of teaching and curriculum development experience. His work focuses on fostering critical and reflective approaches to teaching and learning, particularly in teaching human skills, such as professionalism, communication, teamwork, ethics, and critical thinking, within technical courses. Renato views education as an emancipatory tool and is passionate about creating learning experiences that prepare learners for the complex social dimensions of their professional practices.
