Shaw New Venture Camp 2022
Join the Indigenous Business Education Partners and Shaw Communications for our fourth Shaw New Venture Camp. This free weekend experience March 17-19, will give Indigenous high school students a peek into the decisions made when operating a business, and are even immersed into a business simulation exercise where participants compete for prize money!

What will participants learn?
Students will learn a variety of core business fundamentals in areas of Finance, Logistics & Supply Chain, Marketing, Presentation Skills, and more. By the end of the camp, they will walk away with a foundational grasp of business functions and have had the opportunity to learn from many of Asper’s prestigious instructors, giving a glimpse as to what University-level studies in the Faculty of Management are like.
What is the format?
The 2022-23 Shaw New Venture Camp is a 3-day weekend experience conducted with in-person instruction. Students will participate in a weekend competition using business simulation software. On the final day of competition weekend, teams pitch their strategy and results before a panel of judges to compete for prizes. Teams placing first, second, and third will earn a cash prize!
Teams of 3-4 students must be registered alongside a trusted adult (Teacher, Educational Assistant, Parent, etc.) who is available to organize the team in their submission of challenge materials and oversee the team during competition weekend. If your team is needing more than one trusted adult be registered to your team or cannot find one, please connect with us.
Who should apply?
Applications are open to participants ages 14-19 who live in the following areas; Winnipeg Greater Area, Brandon, Portage La Prairie, The Pas, and Thompson. If you live outside but near one of these areas, please inquire with us.
Teams must be registered by March 1, 2023 to participate in competition weekend.
