At the Asper School of Business, Indigenous Business Education Partners offers a welcoming community as you explore your leadership potential in the world of business. IBEP members can receive tutoring, mentoring, financial aid and more.
Our team provides a variety of services to Canadian Indigenous students in pursuit of their Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) or Asper MBA degree, including tutoring, access to bursaries & scholarships, and networking opportunities. Whether you are in your first year or a final year student, our dedicated staff and friendly students are eager to welcome you into our growing community.
IBEP welcomes all First Nation, Inuit, and Metis students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) at the I.H. Asper School of Business regardless of faculty of registration (for example, U1, Arts, or Asper).
We host special events throughout the year, including our Annual Welcome Night, the Visionary Indigenous Business Excellence (VIBE) Awards gala dinner, Career Exploration Day, and other events planned with the student action group University of Manitoba Indigenous Commerce Students (UMICS).

IBEP supports your search for summer and career opportunities through our annual Career Exploration Day (speed networking event with hiring managers) and regularly scheduled Lunch-and-Learn discussions. You will have access to all Associates networking events through the Asper MBA program, free of charge. Some Associates members are IBEP partners and other members have a vested interest in diversifying their workforce. Additionally, Asper MBA students are invited to attend all IBEP events held throughout the academic year.
Since 2005, some of Manitoba’s finest Indigenous entrepreneurs have been celebrated at the Visionary Indigenous Business Excellence (VIBE) Awards. It is one of Manitoba’s most prestigious events to honour Indigenous business leaders.
The Indigenous campus community works together to build and expand our presence and visibility at UM while creating a safe environment for students and staff to work and learn.
Self-declaring as an Indigenous student allows you to be considered for merit and need-based awards dedicated to Indigenous students such as scholarships, fellowships, prizes and bursaries.
Asper has a dedicated career development team with resources to help all Asper students plan their academic and post-academic careers.
Asper’s international exchange program allows students the chance to study at one of over 60 business schools around the world! All courses are taught in English, you’ll receive extensive support throughout the entire experience, and credits transfer directly to fulfil your degree requirements.

Many award opportunities are available to UM students based on academic achievement and financial need. By submitting your application for admission to the University by March 1, you will automatically be considered for entrance scholarships.
