Biography

Professor Brown pursued a PhD following several years of work in Development Economics, helping to build a computable general equilibrium model for Kenya. She came to Manitoba following her PhD and has spent her professional career working in a variety of areas. She has adjusted her teaching as the needs of the department required. Her research is also varied, and partly followed her areas of teaching.

  • Economics of gender
  • International trade: modelling trade effects or estimating the effects of trade policies, movements or agreements

Research summary

Professor Brown's research has been varied, from environmental economics to international trade, with a number of publications on the relationships between nonprofit organizations and government and the gender salary gap in academia.

Her most recent efforts focus on preparing support material for an introductory microeconomics textbook.
