Biography

Dr. Joseph Yaw Asomah is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology and Criminology, University of Manitoba (UM), Canada. Before joining UM, he was an Assistant Professor at St. Thomas University, Fredericton, Canada. He also taught at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada. Dr. Asomah’s research intends to produce a critical sociological scholarship to inform policy and advocacy efforts and advance a more just and safe global society through inclusive and sustainable development. His research generally focuses on corruption, socio-legal studies, criminology and criminal justice. For instance, in the corruption field, he examines corruption causes and effects and responses from influential actors, including governments, the media, civil society and the international community. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including “Third World Quarterly,” “Critical Studies in Medi a Communication”, “Crime, Law and Social Change”, “African Human Rights Law Journal” and “Democratization”.
