Biography

After completing my doctorate in Economics, I worked for two years as a Lecturer at the University of Malawi for two years (1996-98), teaching Microeconomics and Development Economics to Masters's Degree students. After returning to Canada, I worked as a Researcher/Senior Researcher with the North-South Institute in Ottawa from 1999 to 2001. My primary task was addressing issues relating to the debt problems of developing countries. I returned to academia as a Lecturer in Economics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2002 to 2004 and then to the University of Manitoba, Department of Economics, where I have been since. From 2002 to 2005, I was a Research Associate at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, University of Toronto. Since 2001, I have worked for the Commonwealth Secretariat and various United Nations agencies as a Research Consultant on a variety of projects.
