The Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative has made a contribution to the fund. The purpose of the fund is to reward the academic achievements of undergraduate students pursuing studies in Architecture in the Faculty of Architecture. Beginning in the 2017-2018 academic year, the available annual interest from the fund will be used to offer one scholarship to an undergraduate student who
- is enrolled full-time (minimum 80% course load) in the third or fourth year of study in the Architecture option in the Bachelor of Environmental Design program in the Faculty of Architecture;
- has achieved a minimum degree grade point average of 3.5.

Established: Board of Governors, August 25, 2015
Biographical Information:
Born September 9, 1929 in Maple Creek, SK, Boe later lived in Brandon and Winnipeg, MB before seeking his fortune in Toronto, ON. There he met and married Eleanore (Chu) and raised two children. Boe was trained as an Architect, receiving his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Manitoba in 1952. From his start at Weir & Cripps and then his own firm B.D. Wong Architect, Boe built a solid reputation for honesty, integrity and strong work ethic to get the job done “right.” He became a leading designer of food processing facilities, including many of the Weston Bakeries Plants, chocolate products and Wing’s Foods, finally branching into steel fabrication facilities for Samuel & Sons Ltd.
His friends and family are very proud of his many accomplishments and contributions. Throughout his life he took a great interest in the affairs of his many nieces and nephews as they proceeded through school and onto their own careers, offering sage advice and kind words. Of particular interest was his passion for lifelong learning. He supported both his children to pursue graduate and continuing education, along with his own educational pursuits.

Isadore Coop Bursary in Architecture
Terms of Reference
In memorial tribute to Isadore Coop, an endowment fund has been established at The University of Manitoba by his family, friends and associates. This fund shall be used to support the Isadore Coop Bursary in Architecture, which will first be offered in the fall of 2006.
Isadore Coop graduated in Architecture from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1948, and received his Masters of Science in Architecture degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology, in Chicago, in 1953, studying with his mentor, the world famous architect Mies van der Rohe. Isadore was a respected and much loved Winnipeg architect who designed many well-known buildings on the Fort Garry campus, in Winnipeg - the city he loved so well - in Canada and internationally. He had true empathy for people who needed assistance to attend university, having needed support himself. Upon completing Grade 12 at Isaac Newton, he was awarded an Isbister Scholarship for admission to the University of Manitoba, and was dismayed to find it was only tenable in Arts and Science. Nevertheless, he decided Architecture was his calling and reluctantly gave up his award of $100. He would be proud to know that a bursary in his name will provide financial support to those who are studying the great profession of Architecture.
The bursary will be awarded to a student who:
- is enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, in the Master of Architecture program at The University of Manitoba
- has achieved a minimum degree grade point average of 3.5 (as an entering student, in the last 60 credit hours of their undergraduate program) and shows promise, in the judgment of the selection committee, of continuing to do outstanding work in the Master of Architecture program
- has demonstrated financial need on the standard University of Manitoba bursary application form
