St John's College Application for Scholarships and Bursaries with a July 15 Deadline

Welcome to the SJC July 15 Deadline Scholarship and Bursary Application Form. All scholarships and bursaries with a deadline of July 15 are located on this page. You may apply for all awards for which you meet the eligibility criteria. If you need to refresh your memory on what the criteria for each award are, hover the cursor over the "?" beside each award name and the criteria will pop up.

I suggest you don't wait until the last minute. The form is set to close at 4:30 pm on July 15 so if you're in the middle of your application and the clock ticks over, you won't be able to submit your application. And while the process is a lot smoother than it has been, you never know if technical difficulties will pop up, including illness and general life-getting-busy-ness. So don't wait until the last minute!

**If you have accessibility issues with this form or require assistance, please contact the Awards Clerk by email at sherry.peters@umanitoba.ca or by phone at 204-474-8520 for assistance.

A few things to note:

1. Read the criteria carefully, and make sure you are eligible. If you aren't sure, hover the cursor over the "?" beside the name of the award and the criteria will come up.

2. When you check the box beside the award you are applying for, any additional information and requirements like references will show up.

3. Yes, you can apply for more than one award, as long as you meet the eligibility criteria. Please read it carefully. Everything you need is all on the one form.

4. If the criteria says, "Preference given to" and you don't meet that requirement but you meet all others, yes you can apply for it.

5. References need to be emailed to the Awards Clerk directly at sherry.peters@umanitoba.ca and need to be received by 4:30 pm on July 15. Either you, or the person writing the reference for you can email them.

6. Please have your school email your transcripts to sherry.peters@umanitoba.ca

7. If the award(s) you are applying for requires the financial need worksheet, it will show up in the form.

8. Once you’ve clicked the “submit” button, you will see something to the effect of “Thank you for applying for the July 15 scholarships” (something like that). You also receive an email confirmation. If you receive this confirmation, your application was submitted and received.

9. And finally, a reminder that the results of the awards will not be decided until the end of September, at which time, notification will go out to all applicants.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Awards Clerk at sherry.peters@umanitoba.ca.

Resources

Letters must be emailed in PDF format to sherry.peters@umanitoba.ca.

All letters of reference must be submitted by July 31, 2023, no later than 4:30pm.

Unless otherwise specified (see the reference requirements of the awards you are applying for),  reference letters should be general character references.

Each of your referees only needs to submit one letter of reference.

All letters of reference received will be reviewed by the committee for each applicable award.

References can be provided by anyone who is not related to you, such as a volunteer supervisor, professor, employer, teacher etc.

It may be helpful if you provide your letter of application to your referee. If your referee has authorized you to use their letter for several SJC awards, advise them that it is best not to be award-specific.

Please note that you are responsible for contacting your referees and ensuring the submission of your letters of support. References can be submitted by the applicant or the person writing the letter of support.

Failure to submit letters of support will result in your application being incomplete and therefore not reviewed/considered.
