The Manitoba Centre for Health Policy (MCHP) conducts world-class population-based research on health and the social determinants of health. Our mission is to conduct collaborative research and analytics which inform solutions to support a thriving society. We curate Manitoba's unique data repository and develop trainees in population-based research. MCHP is located within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba.

More about the Centre

The Manitoba Centre for Health Policy (MCHP) is a research unit within the department of community health sciences, in the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba. We focus on the question "What makes people healthy?"

Population-based research

MCHP carries out research on health services, population and public health, and the social determinants of health, using de-identified data from administrative records of Manitobans. Explore our Data Repository page to learn more.

A world-wide research team

Our team consists of more than 60 University researchers and graduate students, data managers, systems analysts, research coordinators and research support staff. We collaborate with peers across Canada, the United States, Europe and Australia.

Outstanding educational opportunities

MCHP researchers teach graduate level courses in community health sciences and advise graduates students through thesis projects.

MCHP staff support researchers using the data repository, and mentor co-op students and interns.

The Manitoba Population Research Data Repository

The Manitoba Population Research Data Repository offers a comprehensive collection of data, including administrative, registry, survey and other data, primarily relating to Manitobans. The repository describes patterns of health care and profiles of health and illness, which facilitates interdisciplinary research in areas like as health care, education, social services and justice.
