Road Construction and Infrastructure Renewal: University Crescent

    Overview: Due to an urgent repair, chilled water renewal is taking place in the median of University Cres. at Dafoe Rd. (see map). The U-Turn lane will be closed throughout construction and the left lane, northbound University Cres., at the intersection of Dafoe Rd. will be closed. 
    Boulevard restoration following road reconstruction is ongoing and partial lane closures can be expected along University Cres. through the fall. Remaining deficiency work will reconvene in Spring 2023.
    Flag people will be on site to help direct traffic as needed. Please plan accordingly. Barricades and safety signage will be clearly posted to safely direct vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians as required. Caution should be taken at all times during construction. Your patience and cooperation to ensure everyone’s safety is appreciated.
    City of Winnipeg road construction on University Cres. from Thatcher Dr. to Pembina Highway will commence mid-July. Please (see map) for information and visit City of Winnipeg Public Works for more detail on phasing and timelines. Expect delays. Chown

  • Overview: The Chown Level 000 Washrooms in Rooms A013 and A014 in Chown Building will be closed for renovation starting Monday, September 19, 2022 with a projected re-opening of Monday, January 30, 2023.  Alternate building washrooms are located on L200.

Brodie Centre

  • Overview:  Please be aware that afterhours access through the Brodie Atrium South Sliding Doors will be offline until further notice due to technical issues with the card reader interconnection.  For all required afterhours access please make use of the Brodie East entrance (near old emergency & Brodie Bike Compound).   Atrium Doors will be in operation during regular hours.

St. Paul’s College

Fort Garry Campus

  • Overview: Starting October 11th, 2022, Physical Plant will start shutting down chilled water to the Fort Garry Campus in preparation for the winter season. This will mean that building cooling will not be available in most areas.

Frank Kennedy Building

Physical Plant

  • Overview: Washrooms 110A and 110B will be Out of Service starting end of day October 17th at 5:00pm.
    Abatement work will be taking place the evening of October 17th with construction starting up in full October 24th until January 20th, 2022. (Pending any delays). Men’s Washroom will not be affected and Female Washroom in the changeroom off corridor 115 will be available.

Fort Garry Campus Chilled Water System

  • Overview: Please be advised that work is taking place on the Chilled Water System in the median of University Cres. at Dafoe Rd. All impacted facilities have been notified, which include Animal Science/Entomology, Welcome Centre, Environmental Safety Building and the Richardson Centre for Food Technology and Research. There should be no disruption to services and building operations. The work is to address an urgent repair and the timeline for construction is unknown at this time. We are anticipating at least a week of work and will follow up with updates as required.

Fort Garry Campus (except for Richardson Building)

  • Timeframe (est): December 13th, 2022 starting at 8:00 AM until December 15th, 2022 ending at 3:00 PM

  • Category: Reverse Osmosis Water System Annual Sanitation   

  • Overview: Physical Plant will be performing a shutdown of the Reverse Osmosis water system at the Fort Garry Campus to conduct sanitation maintenance. Reverse Osmosis water will not be available at this time. Users are asked to store water in advance if required. Domestic hot and cold water will not be affected.

Tier – Tier Tunnel

Basic Medical Sciences Building

  • Timeframe: Wednesday 11/23/22 to Friday12/02/22 between the hours of  6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • Category: Annual Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Inspections

  • Overview: Please be advised Physical Plant Staff will be doing fire alarm testing Wednesday 11/23/22 to Friday12/02/22 between the hours of  6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    During the fire alarm audible test from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. the fire bells/horns will be pulsed for 5 seconds repetitively. It is important to note that if a true fire alarm happens to coincide with fire alarm testing, fire bells/horns will stop pulsing and will ring continuously, thereby indicating that you must exit the building and follow established evacuation procedures. Once again, pulsating fire alarm bells/horns indicate legislated, fire alarm testing by Physical Plant and do not require evacuation. Vipond Sprinkler Technicians will be entering all rooms to inspect the sprinkler systems.

Dentistry

    Timeframe: Wednesday 11/23/22 to Monday 11/28/22 from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m

    Overview: Nov 28th , 2022 to Dec 2nd, 2022 – Elizabeth Dafoe Library – Domestic Hot and Cold water to the following rooms will be shut off for this period: all Level 200 washrooms, Room 208 lounge, Room 311 washroom.  Washrooms listed will be closed during this time. There will be washrooms available on all levels,  with the exception of Level 200.
