Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • identify historical aspects of Canadian Indian/Aboriginal/First Nations/Metis Inuit/Indigenous education
  • articulate why there is a push to Indigenize Post-Secondary Education at this point in time
  • provide examples of Canadian models of Indigenization in higher education
  • provide rationale for the use of a range of media to achieve understanding across cultures
  • be able to analyze models of Indigenization in post-secondary institutes based in sociohistorical context
  • identify curricular problems that may arise in mainstream institutions under Indigenization
  • develop respectful, dialogically based curriculum for co-scription of knowledge in Post-Secondary Education
