Joanne Laval

Often working with content authors, faculty development specialists and instructional designers, Joanne creates engaging media assets including graphics, web components, animations, and videos for online and blended delivery credit and non-credit courses as well as UM community facing initiatives.

As Senior Digital Media Specialist, Joanne also leads a small team of enthusiastic and talented Digital Media Designers from both the Flexible Learning Team and the Manitoba HUB team.

Joanne is a formally trained media designer, holding a diploma in Digital Multi-Media Technology from Red River College. Joanne is dedicated to creating accessible digital media for the UM not only from the perspective of a digital media designer, but also from the advantage of being a recent UM graduate. Joanne specifically appreciates the importance of online learning, and her role in enhancing content presentation in the online courses offered by UM for those who wish to continue their studies in their own time and at their own pace.
