Are you looking to embed learning about innovation and entrepreneurship into your course(s) or program in a way that’s aligned with your discipline? Janine can help! She supports experiential learning about these themes. With some faculties, Janine designs and delivers the lessons, modules or courses. In other faculties, she supports the work behind the scenes by helping to clarify learning goals, design assessments, find appropriate partners, and more.

Janine also serves on the Entrepreneurship and Innovative Thinking Leadership Team to collaboratively build UM’s culture and supports for entrepreneurship and innovation. Janine’s other educational development roles in The Centre include mentoring faculty in the Teaching and Learning Certificate program and supporting curriculum renewals.

Biography

With deep roots in entrepreneurship and adult education, Janine has served as the inaugural Faculty Specialist for Entrepreneurship since late 2022. Prior to that, Janine worked with Red River College Polytechnic and the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.

Janine is a regular contributor to entrepreneurial learning at UM and beyond. She is a regular pitch competition coach and judge, a volunteer with Sprint to Innovate since 2023, and teachingentrepreneurship.org. In 2023, Janine created Better Together – a co-curricular learning experience to build entrepreneurial thinking skills among University of Manitoba staff, students and faculty. She was named to the startup and innovation working group of the Digital Education Council in 2026.

To keep her teaching skills current, Janine is a contract instructor from time to time at RRC Polytech and the University of Manitoba.

Janine holds a Masters of Adult Education from St. Francis Xavier University, a Certificate in Adult Education from RRC Polytech and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba.
