Emilie McKinney, Anishinaabe from Swan Lake First Nation, is an award winning Indigenous entrepreneur and the founder of Anishinaabe Bimishimo. Today, Anishinaabe Bimishimo is North America’s award-winning jingle cone manufacturer, shipping to 109 stores and offering a wide range of locally produced Anishinaabe-designed goods.

Vincent Design Inc.

Shaun Vincent is an artist, graphic designer and entrepreneur who grew up in the Métis community of St. Laurent, and the founder of Vincent Design Inc. Shaun saw the need for representational design and struck out on his own to build a branding and marketing firm with a focus on promoting Indigenous communities, organizations, and companies. 

As an artist and entrepreneur, Shaun has crafted a unique style guided by connections to the land, history and ‘knowing.’ It is this Two-Eyed Seeing bridging Indigenous understanding with Western strengths that defines Shaun Vincent’s work and Vincent Design Inc.

La Brasserie Nonsuch Brewing Co.

Matthew Sabourin, President, and the team at Nonsuch have worked to contribute to Manitoba’s Métis Francophone culture since 2017. Nonsuch is a Métis-Francophone majority owned business that envisions a province richer in culture. Sharing their name with the historic seventeenth century ship, Nonsuch hopes to honour the past as they strive to shape its future.

Dreamcatcher Promotions

Michelle Cameron, Owner/CEO, started Dreamcatcher as a home based business in 2012 from their home in Tootinaowaziibeeng Treaty Reserve. Today, the company operates out of Swan Lake First Nation Urban Reserve and fulfills contracts across Canada. 

Dreamcatcher Promotions is Canada’s largest Indigenous owned promotional company. They offer organizations, First Nation communities and artists opportunities to create custom apparel and promotional items that suit their unique needs and voice.

Bloom + Brilliance

Janelle Desrosiers and her team her team serve their clients by creating brand identity, stationery, social media and packaging design; informational, ecommerce websites, subscription, membership and online event websites; copywriting and SEO. Bloom + Brilliance is a queer, Indigenous, and intersectional feminist-led design agency. They build beautiful brands, websites and strategies for Indigenous and intersectional feminist entrepreneurs; organizations, and community leaders as they change the world.

Noel Bernier founded Hermanos Restaurant with the mission of bringing a truly unique South American steakhouse experience to Winnipeg.

Arrowhead Development Corp

Madison Petro-Canada opened in 2015 and is the first urban reserve gas station in Winnipeg. Madison Petro Canada strives to promote the Petro Canada brand while selling Indigenous arts and crafts from local artists and suppliers.

Caralyn and Robert Rabichuk, a husband and wife team, founded Covert Logistics in 2002. Covert Logisitcs believes transportation should happen seamlessly, which is why they pride themselves in executing "behind the scenes transport". Chief Peguis Investment Corporation

Peguis First Nation created Chief Peguis Investment Corporation in June 2012 to focus on key investments to provide a rate of return to their membership. Chief Peguis Investment Corporation works with Peguis entities as well as other Indigenous businesses/organizations in pursuit of strategic investment opportunities.

Connie's Corner Café

Connie and Robert (Bob) Chartrand opened Connie's Corner Café in 1997. Striving to provide the best service and quality products, Connie's Corner Café has only amended the menu on two occasions. The business also added a small stage for coffee house style concerts.

Connie's Corner Café is now permanently closed.

2014

Métis Economic Development Organization

Manitoba Métis Federation created the Métis Economic Development Organization (MEDO) to build greater financial self-sustainability for the MMF and bolster its ability to serve the Métis Nation within Manitoba. MEDO is a business investment and management firm that is doing important work in the community. In 2012, the business launched MEDO Care Pharmacy to provide high quality pharmacy services to the Métis people of Manitoba and to develop community ownership over their own health outcomes.

Sagkeeng First Nation opened Sagkeeng Superstore in 1990 as a step toward building a more vibrant community. The business is still in operation and has expanded to include a Tim Horton's franchise. Louis Champagne and Russ Rothney opened Neechi Foods to serve the North-End neighbourhood. Neechi Foods in the first Indigenous "worker cooperative" (employee owned and operated in Canada).

Andrew Clarke launched Clarke Financial in 1994 as a full service financial planning firm, serving corporate, government, and individual clients across the country.
