The Media Lab maintains a collection of media production equipment available for short-term loans to Faculty of Arts students and faculties. Equipment loans support course assignments, class projects, research activities and approved Faculty of Arts initiatives.
To ensure fair access and proper use of Media Lab resources, all borrowers must comply with the following equipment loan policies:
Failure to comply with Media Lab borrowing policies may result in the suspension of future borrowing privileges.
The Faculty of Arts is expanding support for media production and digital experiential learning through the Media Lab. New programming, workshops, and collaborative opportunities for students and instructors will be announced throughout the academic year.

Workshop schedules and registration information will be posted as they become available.
The Media Lab is available to all Faculty of Arts students and teaching staff, including Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Instructors I & II, and Sessional Instructors, at no cost. Access includes equipment loans, workshops, and technical support.
Access a wide range of media equipment, including tripods, lighting kits, microphones, podcast recording equipment, external storage drives and industry-standard editing software. Whether you're just getting started or looking to refine your skills, our staff provide hands-on support and training to help you make the most of the available tools. Check the current equipment inventory and drop-in hours before your visit.
Students can visit the Media Lab during drop-in hours or submit a request form. For larger projects, especially those with deadlines or specialized equipment needs, we recommend booking in advance to ensure equipment availability and staff support. Since loanable equipment is in high demand, advance notice helps us better support your project.
No experience is required. The Media Lab welcomes users of all skill levels and staff are available to provide one-on-one guidance on using equipment and software. Whether you're borrowing a camera, recording audio or editing your first project, we can help you get started with confidence. The lab also offers workshops throughout the year on topics such as audio recording, video production, and editing techniques. Visit the News & Events page to learn about upcoming training opportunities.
The Media Lab can help teaching staff incorporate creative media projects into their teaching. Staff can consult on assignment design, suggest alternatives to traditional written assignments such as audio, video or podcast projects and help ensure activities are realistic for students with little or no prior media production experience. We can also provide in-class orientations, lab tours, or introductory training sessions to support student success. To explore these options, please contact the Media Lab directly as these services are arranged through consultation rather than self-service booking.
