Creative work & Research

David Foster teaches and researches in areas related to critical studies in art. He teaches courses in art theory, art writing, and visual communication history. He is interested in the relationships between art and language, particularly in genres that combine text and image, especially photo essays, graphic design, graphic narratives, and film and video. His current research project concerns the films, photography, installations, and multimedia work of Chris Marker and his influence on contemporary artists.
