Architecture Transforms

Across diverse typologies and scales, 3XN’s work is driven by the conviction that architecture should give something back--to people, to communities, and to our planet. Since 1986, the firm has specialized in transformational projects: projects that give obsolete structures new form and character, that transform dormant neighborhoods into thriving cultural hubs, or that unite disparate organizations into collaborative communities. A commitment to the highest standards of sustainability and design excellence unites the studio’s portfolio. Form and performance are not at odds, but rather continuously enhance and shape one another.

In 2007, 3XN founded GXN, an independent consultancy driving sustainable innovation in the built environment, focusing on circular economy, behavioral design, and digital technologies. GXN’s research-based processes and evidence-based insights, combined with 3XN’s design expertise, has allowed both firms for years to generate holistic visions for our projects that turn concepts into forward-looking architecture with provable impact and demonstrable value.

Ashton Stare, Architect in 3XN’s North American studio, will speak about the synergy between 3XN and GXN – between practice and research – and how this drives the firm’s design process in new work demonstrating innovation in transformative, low-carbon design with human experience at its heart.
