At Prep Studies we offer theory classes, which are an important part of musical development. These classes prepare all students for their practical exams and help prospective Desautels Faculty of Music students with their written theory entrance exams.
As part of the audition process for the B.Mus and B.Jazz programs, students will complete a Rudiments Diagnostic Assessment test (RDAT). This is designed to determine what students already know about musical rudiments (scales, key signatures, intervals, metre, transpoition, triads) so that they can be placed in the appropriate music courses when they begin their studies. In each session, students will complete their diagnostic assessment during the last class.
