Medical director, St. Boniface Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Dr. Chelsea Ruth is a researcher with a focus on the long-term outcomes of infants who have required NICU care or those with perinatal risk factors for adverse outcomes, including those related to social determinants of health.
Her research interests include population health, perinatal risk factors, NICU care, long-term outcomes, social determinants of health, neurodevelopmental outcomes, maternal substance use, and diabetes in pregnancy.
Dr. Ruth conducts population-based research using administrative data and emerging statistical methods at the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy.
Dr. Ruth is involved in multiple collaborative research groups including the Long-term Educational Outcomes, Perinatal, Antenatal Risks and Development (LEOPARD) Group, iMAPLES, INFORM RARE, and WiSDOM.
She also has a strong commitment to working with First Nation Health and Social Secretariat of Manitoba to respectfully and appropriately conduct research that will include and impact First Nation Manitobans.
