In case of emergency

As a preventative measure, the Libraries strongly recommends all users who are concerned about emergency procedures to arrange a tour of the library premises at any library service desk.

Each library follows the Emergency Management Program of the University and complies with the Manitoba Fire Code.

Each library location has a detailed emergency procedure in place for that location.

The guidelines set out by the University for emergency procedures also include the evacuation of people with disabilities. Please review the relevant section of the University Emergency Quick Reference Guide

If you have any questions regarding the University policy or procedure, please contact Environmental Health and Safety Office, 204-474-6633 or EHSO@umanitoba.ca.

The elevators should not be used in most emergency situations.  Please note the following unit libraries with elevators:

  • E.K. Williams Law Library
  • Elizabeth Dafoe Library
  • Neil John Maclean Health Sciences Library
  • Jim Peebles Science and Technology Library
  • Architecture/Fine Arts Library
