Getting started

You can now report a spam or junk email message directly from Outlook or submit a ticket to the IST Service Desk.

Report from Outlook

Microsoft’s integrated email security system includes Outlook buttons to report phishing or spam messages.

To report a phishing or junk message in Outlook:

  1. Select the message you want to report.
  2. Select Report phishing or Report Junk.

Choosing “Report phishing” will remove the message from Outlook. Choosing “Report Junk” will move the message from your inbox to your Junk Email folder. A copy of the message may be sent to Microsoft to help update spam/phishing filters.

When you report a message in your inbox as junk/phishing, it will add that specific email address to your personal blocked list.

To block all messages from a specific domain, go to Settings > Mail > Junk Email in Outlook and Add the domain to the Blocked senders and domains list.

Forward message or create an IT ticket

To report a spam or phishing attempt to the IST Information and Compliance team:

  1. Forward your spam email to spam@umanitoba.ca and copy + paste the full message headers. For assistance with displaying email headers, see the instructions for your platform: ·
