Systems Design and Testing (BUAN 0190)

This IT-focused course examines concepts and tools for designing, analyzing, and testing systems and introduces testing methodologies. It also addresses: ways of determining the best type of testing for a given purpose, how to conduct testing within best practice parameters, and how to interpret and report testing results effectively. Modelling techniques used by analysts and the technological and software contexts in which system design and testing are situated are also explored.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • identify core concepts of systems design, analysis, and testing
  • apply modelling and design techniques of business analysis in order to provide creative solutions
  • analyze various levels of software testing such as black box, white box, regression, static, and dynamic
  • apply the tools associated with object-oriented modelling to business problems
  • create test cases and a test plan
