Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
- describe and discuss the various principles and theories applicable to municipal governments
- demonstrate knowledge of fund accounting principles and procedures
- effectively communicate the treasury function of local government, including the financial powers of a municipality
- apply accounting theories and principles to the practical requirements of managing the financial administration of a local government, including maintaining the municipal financial information system
- manage the financial powers of a local government, including budgeting, authorization of spending, revenue generation, capital projects and money management, in a manner that meets the requirements of statutory controls, elected council’s directions, accounting principles and the users of the financial information
