Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • critically assess your own knowledge, skills, and lived experiences given your social location and positionality within intersecting systems of power and oppression
  • identify strengths and areas for further learning in content areas relating to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility
  • better appreciate, understand, and empathize with perspectives and experiences different from your own, and articulate where your and others’ perspectives come from
  • recognize and employ your own developing abilities to take action to build a more inclusive and equitable environment at the University of Manitoba

Schedule information

January 6 to April 20, 2025

This course is for the UM Community including UM students, staff, and faculty. It was designed for everyone, no matter their educational background or prior experience.

The hybrid format includes a mix of asynchronous learning modules for self-study, and synchronous facilitated sessions offered either in person or online. Learners will have up to four months to complete the course in the format that works best for them.

With a limit of 120 participants across two sections, applications will be open from November 21 to November 28, 2024. Applicants will be advised if they are eligible for the course, and then, contacted again if they are selected to participate. A lottery-based system will be implemented to avoid first-come, first-served admission practices that privilege those with access to time and technology. Those who are not selected will be added to a waitlist for a future session.
